Best ads in town!

This AW the brands have kicked it up a gear when it comes to their ad campaigns. Loving McQueens striking art pose and Chanels naughty cat. However I am sorry Miss Swinton I find the new Pringle campaign photo truely unsettling!

A vintage affair

Feeling super thrifty this month even high street clothing is a little out of price range this weekend I went in search of a bargin or two. I love a bit second hand especially as now its known as vintage. First stop was Portebella a complete mix if different stalls, from new designers to carboot still stalls the best plan is to head to the ones who dont know waht their selling. I ended up uming and arring over a chanel scarfs that I got  for £4, two tops for a fiver each. Meanwhile my best mate got two amzing tunictops for £2!

Next stop was Brick lane one of the most exciting places to shop, my favourite discovery of the day was the Vintage emporium cafe and shop l;ovely hot cholocate and fab vintage although on the pricey side. The indoor market is a great place to grab a bargin £6 for an octopus necklace. While shopping you will never guess who I saw only the artist Victoria Sin who is an amazing illustrator known for her oout their designs and her street art just sat a stall selling her new range of clothing Victory.

Who needs high street you only end up with badly cut, poor quailty items and end up looking like everyone else...so everyone embrace the beauty that is granny chic!

Another day in the office

I'm a lucky girl really I get to play with all Moschino's collections which are know for their elegance and class as well as a quirky style and sense of humour. So I though I would share with you my favourite pieces.

This is tthe most amazing jacket in the main line AW 11/12 Navy with a velvet bow and gold beaded teddy bear neckline, so awesome, but its so heavy had a quick try on and well fashion hurts, but damn I looked cute.

Another amazing piece of the collection and strangely comfortable are the loafer style cheap and chic heals that come is a range of breath taking colours, red, tan, oh yeh metallic lime grean and metallic sky blue!

Moschino clothing isn't simple about the crazy werid and unsual items. The mainline collection pratically screams sophistacation...well that is if sophistacation ever screams prephaps oozes is a better word. My favourite dress does seemed to be everybodies favourite, and I was so proud to see that when I sent it out for a photo shoot at Vogue who ended up wearing...only Kate Moss. The August issue really does have her looking amazing.

Cassandra Rhodin

I think I'm in love with the swedish illustrator Cassandra Rhodin she is truely amazing!

Inspiration for the day

"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."

Fancy a bite...of my dress?

One of my favourite things about fashion is the new, the outstanding and completely initiative. So I thought I would share with you one of my favourites:

Micro nutritional couture

I stumbled upon the work of Emily Crane while browsing the pages of WGSN, she works on the brief of that in 2025 the government bans fast fashion and it has to evolve to give back to the world. She been working on the idea of growing clothes from edible materials.

Emily experiments with freezing bubbles of food stuff to create hybrid materials creating bio-lace structures.

The future looks bright for this taste bud tingling fashion as Emily is currently working with Heston Blumenthal fusing science, food and fashion together.

A fashion interns life for me...how will I pay the rent?

The fashion is notorious or being highly competitive  and difficult to get into, never have I felt this was more true than when I started looking for a job for my placement year out of university, I was no longer simply competing against the girls on my course but from every fashion course in the UK.. I sent out hundreds of email and letter to fashion companies inquiring about jobs, I would say for every twenty I sent I would get one reply and often it was rejection. However all was not in vein I got a number of interviews for the likes of McQueen, Stella McCartney and Alice Temperley.

Every interview was nerve racking as I sat in reception waiting to be called, surrounded by girls who looked like they just step out of the pages of Vogue, dolled up not a hair out of place and not a kind word was ever uttered to me. I couldn’t have felt more out of place. I don’t look anything like the girls in fashion magazines and am a pocket sized 5’3 size 12 who well… wears anything I fancy whether its on trend or not. The interviews themselves where well unimpressive often well short and sweet.

My break came with the Italian luxury fashion power house that is Moschino. I am currently the newest press office intern of the London branch. My role is to send out samples of the collections to magazines, stylists, photo shoots and the odd VIP and then book everything back into the showroom. An amazing opportunity, completely unpaid but well that’s just how the fashion industry rolls, its all had the inclination towards a little slave labour. But I am willing to put up with a lot to gain the experience and connection for me to one day to get a real job in the industry that doesn’t pay me simply in biscuits.

The battle of the IT bags

This week Mulberry's very latest bag hit the shelves the Carter, and is soon to the very latest IT bag nestled neatly on the shoulder of its celebritiy clientele. the Carter is boxy, rectanglar bag with chain handles that is available is a number of sizes to suit whatever purpose from simply carrying your mobile to a bag pretty much capable of fitting the kitchen sink, this bag has be dubbed the "double handbag bag", it would give mary Poppins bag a run for its money.
Just as the Carter goes up for sale, The Channel camp is raving about their new bag the Boy Channel. This fuss free piece of arm candy is bang on the androgynous trend. With its mannish quailty and simple classic colours...The battle of the IT bags begins, which will you chose?

The new stars of the plus size market

Once upon a time, I did some work experience within Arcadia, I worked a press intern for Evans. Plus size fashion has always seemed to stump the industry, suddenly they stop following trends and silhouttes, style goes out the window and colour is forgotten. This was completely apparently as I tired my very best to send out Evans clothing to magazines and photo shoots and all I seemed to be working with was black, shapeless garments that lacked life and style, the Beth Ditto range really was the only relief for the Evans collections. I was so disspointed by the array of clothes for plus size women  even went about compiling a buying proposal for a proposed River Isalnd plus size collection for my uni coursework.

However great news for all those that sport a few curves Clements Riberio is about to kick Evans into shape. The design duo Suzanne Clements and Inacio Ribeiro will be designing a range for the plus size retailer next year. if you can't wait till next year for inspiring plus size clothing Evans is about to launch "Whats your shape?" with clothes being grouped in differnet body types...an old idea but it might refresh Evans range???
